Drip Feed System
Ive had three grows using perlite, the first using an auto pot smart valve with average results(i got a half decent smoke). The next two(nothing) i bought a pump and converted to a top feed system.Starting with seedlings i veg for 4wks or to about 1-1.5' high, watering 15min every 4hrs,everything is sweet at this stage with branch spaces 1-1.5"apart max.
Give a thorough flush flip to 12/12 then about 4 days into bloom they stretch like from 1.5'to almost 6' in three wks with(inter nodes!)7-8".Lamps are new and hang between 8-10" from tops of plants.
I posted on here about watering with perlite and it was suggested once a day twice max(I now believe this was good advice)
But i was in my local hydro store when a rep from perlite distributor was there so i ask him,he got out his books and they stated 15min 3hrs whilst light on.I stayed with 15min/4hrs.
I now know with perlites water holding capacity i think i over watered, would this be the stretching problem?y/n!
I WOULD APPRECIATE ADVICE FROM PEOPLE USING DRIP/TOP FEED SYSTEM
this is what i got
grow area 1300wx1700hx600d
400 watt hps
intake fan at base exhaust fan at top
oscillating fan inside
small ozone generator
300mm pots
35 litre res tank
1200litre/hr pump
fed via 13mm tube into 6mm rings with three sprout per ring
dutch master gold a/b for veg
AN sensi bloom a/b with big bud additive
bud blood for first week bloom
using a cf truncheon
PH 5.7-6.5
I wont be using perlite any more,so id like to hear from people who has had success with their drip/top feed system.in different types of medium, which one they found to work best personally.
WHAT MEDIUM WAS USED!
HOW OFTEN DID YOU WATER!
HOW LONG DID YOU WATER FOR!
I'm on disability pension so i cannot afford another failure, especially it its some thing stupid like over watering.
i thank you in advance for your time to read this and for any advice from experience you can offer.
HOPEFULLY IN THREE MONTHS I CAN POST SOME GOOD PLANT PICS

Okay the stretch you mention could be normal for the strain. If I started a 2" seedling into flower I would expect it o be between 4 and 6 inches after 3 weeks. Expect the plant to stretch 2 times to 3 times it's height at the start of flowering.

So your stretch is probably on par for the strain you are growing, and each strain stretches different.

Your watering sounds about right too, if your leafs get large and droopy they are showing signs of over watering. Just avoid watering at night, it increases the chance of mold and mildew.

Watch your plants and learn to read what they need. Good luck and grow on.
