Plants in nature are very cyclic. Their light cycle never varies more than a minute or 2 a day. A question was asked in grow class if you could adjust the light cycle an hour to account for daylight savings time. The answer is you can, but it's best to do it over the course of 4 days, varying the amount of light by 15 mins each day.
Disturbance of the light cycle can cause hermies and reveg. It won't automaticly happen, but it could. So I would say just ease them into it.
